ATTENTION -VICTIMS OF HURRICANE IRENE FLOODING!
You must file your proof of loss within 60 days from the date of your loss. As of September 14, 2011, the Proof of Loss deadline was extended for 30 days by FEMA (for more information on the extension, click here). If you fail to properly file a Proof of Loss, with supporting documentation, by the deadline, your claim may be barred. Simply notifying your insurance company of your loss is not sufficient. A "Proof of Loss" is a legal form which must be signed and sworn and contain specific information required by your policy. You are solely responsible for filing this document as well as documentation supporting the amount of your claim! Even if you submit a Proof of Loss prepared by the flood adjuster, you must file a supplemental proof of loss if you are claiming more money. This requirement cannot be waived by your adjuster or claims representative. For more information, click here.
